Youth Leaders' Congress - Message

Today, we are so fond of facebook, twitter, blog & SMS. Life seems to be empty without all these tools. These new media of communication can be used for either positive or negative values. All these depend on the individual youth.
These latest form of communication is important and vital for all of us to network and to share our resources with one another. The facebook , blog and SMS connect us with others and distance is no longer an issue with this new style of communication. These tools are really useful means to network with your friends and others.
There are two core reasons to convene this Youth Congress. The first reason is to listen and get feedback from the youth leaders regarding the youth ministry in our diocese. The second core intention of the Youth Leaders’ Congress is to network with one another in order to create or form a new generation where we will be willing to share our resources and skills with each other to build God’s kingdom through our youthfulness.

Dear friends, humbly I invite you to use all the opportunities available during this Congress to share, meet and get to know one another. Hope this congress will help one another and PDYN to learn from one another and network with each other for the betterment of our youth ministry in the Diocese of Penang.

Last but not least, I take this opportunity to congratulate the organizing team for their dedication and hard work in organizing this congress. I also would like thank the sponsors, the facilitators, youth leaders, priests and the bishop for their tremendous contribution towards the success of this event.

God bless you all!

May the Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for us!

Youth Leaders’ Congress rooted in the Scripture

Youth Leaders’ Congress rooted in the Scripture
Jeremiah 1: 5
“… Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1: 10
“Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdom, some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.”

Congress Prayer

Prayer for the Youth Leaders’ Congress 2010
Almighty God, we offer up to you the Youth Leaders’ Congress which will be held from 12th to 14th November at the Church of St. Anne. Lord Jesus, bless this program so that it will go on smoothly. Touch the organizing committee and also all the participants.

O Holy Spirit, spirit of wisdom and divine love, impart your knowledge, understanding and counsel upon us so that we will discern Your will and journey together as young people in the diocese of Penang.

Loving Spirit, guide our uncertain steps, strengthen our resolution, shield our chastity, form our minds, conquer our hearts, and lead us to the vineyard where we will labour to build Your kingdom here on earth.
Blessed Mother Mary, intercede for us always.

We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Formation Northern Region Tamil Youth Network

Date : 15 & 16 October
Venue : FM House ( Formation House of Penang Diocese)

There were 8 members attended this formation.  It was a good start to rebuild a northern team in a preparation of next year's planning

We had praise and worship and sessions conducted by Fr. Dominic to give the newly formed group a  good start that centered on God.

Even though there are only few of them participated in all the sessions, it was still a good formation and we learn many things that will be useful in the future.

Voters Registration

PENANG: As there is a possibility that the General Election will be held soon, the students from the Campus Ministry Office in the Diocese of Penang, took on the initiative to register voters from some of the parishes in Penang. They started off with the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Aug 7 and 8 but due to the short notice, managed to register only 5 voters.

However during the Feast of the Assumption at the Church of the Assumption, they managed to register 14 voters. A voters’ registration booth was set up in front of the Assumption Church. Ten students from USM and one Campus Ministry Officer, Liew Man Lee, were involved in the voters’ registration exercise. The volunteers were helped by two Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) representatives.

On Sept 5, the Campus Ministry Officers, Anne Beatrice and Liew Man Lee, together with three USM students went to the Church of St John Britto. They were assisted by Martin Lim, SPR representative and managed to get 18 people to register as voters. All together, the students managed to register 37 voters. — By Maureen Chua
