Here are some of the feedbacks from the 23 - 24 August gathering:

 On PRAYER

• It helps me to know the Divine Office more. 
• Helped me to understand different ways of prayer
• Sharing God´s Words from real life
• Silence/ prayer from the heart brings me closer to God/Holy Spirit
• The prayer was so divine

On the SESSIONS

1^st session  (Genesis 4 and 5)

·         Very, very enriching as I can personally relate to the way of Cain and Seth.

·         Could understand the bloodline of Adam and Eve. 

·         Allowed me to realize that what happens now is connected to our roots one way or another.

·         Helped me to discover the beauty of the Scriptures, the names that God gives to His people

2^nd  session (Luke 3:1-6)

·         Very, very good and meaningful.  It opens up my understanding of the fig tree and the vine.  It is so beautifully presented.

·         Understood that we are fig tree and how God loves us and we allow Him to use us as instruments for the younger generations.

·         That the leaders not only believes but they have to dig deeper first and foremost before leading a group.

·         Discovered my state as a fig tree and what quality I have

September Gathering:

Starts with dinner on Friday (27th) at 7PM and ends with a 

Sunset Mass on Saturday(28th) at 6PM.

This is an overnight activity.

Last day of registration: 15th September

Sa Re Ga Ma Concert A Success

Members of Choice Tamil Penang (CTPG), in a desire to raise funds for CTPG activities, put together a more than 4-hour show with acts and performances that brought out the best in the performers and entertained more than 700 people in the audience.  

            

The concert, which was held last 29th June 2013 at Sts. Chastan and Imbert Church Hall, brought together all the Tamil-speaking Choicees and young people from the various parishes in the Diocese. 

The event showcased the talents and creativity of the young people as shown in the song and dance numbers that they performed as well as the short play based on the Parable of the Sower.  The play tackled the issues in today´s family realities in terms of living out the faith.

         The members of the organizing committee, headed by Francis Sinnappan, would like to thank Stanley from Kulim and Kumaran, a local Malaysian artist,  for masterfully presiding over the event. 

        A heartfelt thank you also goes to Bishop Emeritus Antony Selvanayagam, Fr. Dominic Santhiyagu, Fr. Martin Arlando, Fr. Victor Louis, Fr. David Reegon and Sr. Gertrude Tan for their support and presence during the event. 

   
  A special prayer and heartfelt gratitude to all the benefactors and sponsors, friends, parishioners and family members for their support and prayers.  ■

PDYN Welcomes Fr. Martin Arlando

   Fr. Martin Arlando challenges the youth ministers to “put on the mind of the youth”.  The new Director of the Penang Diocesan Youth  Network, who is currently the assistant parish priest of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, stressed on the importance of   accompanying our young people  according to their needs and to  put ourselves in their shoes so we could understand what they are going through.  In this way,  as disciples of Christ entrusted with this ministry, we will bring our young people to Christ.

  

      Asked further for his expectations from the members of the team and the youth ministry in the diocese as a whole, Fr. Martin has this to say:  “I look forward to a youth ministry that works for the good of all and not only for an individual or specific groups.”

 Starting next year, he plans to have two focus groups in terms of youth programs and activities: the young people in the secondary level  and the single young adult group.  He sees that students in the secondary  level “ need to be grounded in faith.    They  need to deepen their relationship with Jesus before they enter into the tertiary education or else they will be streamed and influenced by worldly morals and not Christian morals. ”

        He also plans to start with a program  for the single young adults group which will see to their faith formation,  training as leaders and skills in facilitating the youth groups in their respective parishes.

  

        As to the young people under the care of the Campus Ministry Office (CMO) and the youth in general,  these three objectives capture his vision for the next three years:

· To discover who Jesus is to them personally

· To live Jesus daily in their lives as a witness and a disciple

· To empower them to be evangelizers.

              And lastly, he is looking into  introducing ongoing formation programs for young people at deanery and parish levels aside from the immediate preparations for the Penang Diocesan Youth Day 3 (PDYD 3)  which will be held in 2015.
